Taking Him At His Word“Hang up the phone, I'm going to shoot you.” In speaking those words to Milford, Conn., pawnshop owner Rocco Candella, Pierre Page, 20, made a bad decision. Candella, opting for survival, came up shooting with his own gun. Page, hit twice, staggered into the street, where he was apprehended and held on $500,000 bond for attempted murder, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal use of a firearm. “He said he was going to [shoot me], and I thought that's what he was going to do,” the 43-year-old Candella said afterward. He was right. Turns out that the Brooklyn-born Page was already on parole from a charge of attempted murder. |
