Book Review:
“The Man Who Hated Work and Loved Labor — The Life and Times of Tony Mazzocchi” This is a fascinating book about a labor leader who has had tremendous influence on our lives, but whose name is not even known by millions of Americans. Please read my review.

Taking Him At His Word

“Hang up the phone, I'm going to shoot you.” In speaking those words to Milford, Conn., pawnshop owner Rocco Candella, Pierre Page, 20, made a bad decision. Candella, opting for survival, came up shooting with his own gun.

Page, hit twice, staggered into the street, where he was apprehended and held on $500,000 bond for attempted murder, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal use of a firearm.

“He said he was going to [shoot me], and I thought that's what he was going to do,” the 43-year-old Candella said afterward. He was right.

Turns out that the Brooklyn-born Page was already on parole from a charge of attempted murder.
